I’s browsing through a WordPress help group, and found someone asking for the solution with WAMPSERVER. He’s trying to install a theme, but his internet connection was too slow to download the theme and install it in 30 seconds, the prefixed time of WAMPSERVER. So he was getting a warning saying “maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in wamp”.
So, he posted the question on how to solve the problem. Instant solution was to download the theme and install it manually. But you know, it’s not the way he can deal with every time, he’s needed another permanent solution for this problem. Well, if your condition is exactly like him, here’s the solution to the problem.
WAMPSERVER has lots of predefined time sets for doing different things. Like that, it has set 30 seconds for the maximum execution time. That is when you give a command (e.g. download and install a theme) to do something, it’ll start counting the time & if you’re not done in 30 seconds, it’ll just end the process. So, all you need to do is increase the time limit. Follow the simple steps below to increase the time limit.
Like the picture above, you’ll find your WAMPSERVER icon on the task bar beside the clock, click on that. A popup will appear, take your mouse on PHP, you’ll see a sub menu. Take your mouse on php.ini and click on it to open it.
Now search for the text
max_execution_time = 30. Now increase the value as much as you want. I tried 300, and it worked. You don’t need to type seconds, just type the value, it’ll understand. When you’re finished increasing the time, save the file and exit the file.
Now All you’ve to do is just click on the WAMPSERVER icon and now click on Restart All Services. Now the WAMPSERVER icon will turn into red then yellow and at last green, you can now do whatever you want to do. Cause the problem is solved. If you need more time, come again and increase the time.
